SPARK SCIENCE

"Where we explore stories of human curiosity"
Spark Science was created by WWU Physics/Astronomy professor Dr. Regina Barber DeGraaff and finished its fourth season in July of 2018. I was the Chief Audio Engineer for seasons 3 and 4, and have occasionally interviewed guests myself. Please go to the website for more info:

MARS GROUP

The WWU Mars Group is run by Geophysics/Astronomy professor and MSL team member, Dr. Melissa Rice.
I was a research undergraduate under her since my junior year and continued until my 2018 graduation. Our focus had been on data coming from the Mastcam instrument on Curiosity, which you can see circled on the second image.

We compiled a comprehensive database for the entire Mastcam multispectral dataset, starting at sol 13 to present (sol 2003 as I write). We individually analyzed each Mastcam observation to collect spectra of all compositions present. Our dataset will be used for future research to analyze compositional differences on the surface of Mars, specifically inside Gale crater. I also created a guide for future Mars Group researchers to use when I graduate.
